FLOAT: A Visual and Emotional Journey
Float is a poignant film that invites viewers to embark on a visual and emotional journey through the eyes of Selma, a young protagonist.
The narrative transitions from a whimsical fantasy to the dark realization of a devastating reality, mirroring the contrast between the
allure of plastic and its catastrophic impact on the ocean when discarded irresponsibly.
Through Selma's discovery, the audience is guided to reflect on the dual nature of plastic—its usefulness and its harmful consequences. This shared journey underscores the film's core message: the urgent need for responsible plastic use and disposal.
As a team, we were united by a clear vision and collaborated tirelessly to craft a compelling and meaningful story. Every element of the film—locations, lighting, color palettes, character and building designs, animation, and music—was meticulously crafted to support the narrative and enhance the audience's experience of Selma’s journey. This attention to detail ensured that the film effectively communicated its message while delivering an immersive and thought-provoking experience.
PART OF A WORLD-CHANGING CAMPAIGN
Float was one of six animated short films created to shine a spotlight on the global crisis of plastic pollution. Using only Facebook and YouTube
as its primary platforms, Float resonated deeply with audiences, amassing an impressive 2 million views on its own.
Together with the other five films in the series, the campaign reached a staggering total of over 40 million views.
This digital-first approach proved that powerful storytelling, even on social media, could inspire worldwide attention and action.
Each film, including Float, was a carefully crafted message aimed at sparking awareness and change—reminding viewers of the urgent need
to address the environmental impact of plastic pollution and to take steps toward a more sustainable future.
